A global logistics company wants to develop the leadership capability of its middle management Learning Solution 3 x 3 Day Leadership Development Program running worldwide Need A global logistics company wants to develop the leadership capability of its middle managers, to help improve their team leadership skills and also strengthen their skills in delivering business results in a complex, fast-changing and highly competitive business sector. Solution A nine day workshop was devised, divided into 3 x 3 day modules, six weeks apart. This was supported by a Virtual Learning Environment for further learning and groupwork before, during and after the face-to-face sessions. The program runs around the world in key regional locations In the USA, Europe and South East Asia. 25 participants take part in each program, and a Program Director facilitates the whole program and is supported by faculty specialists on key topics of strategy, change, customer satisfaction, finance and leadership. In addition there are evening events with guest speakers, often from other parts of the business. The Insights Discovery� instrument is used as part of the program to deepen the learning experience of participants. To help embed the learning and transfer it from the workshop to the workplace, the participants agree a project with their sponsor/line manager before the program which they then work on during the whole program. They present their results during the third and final module to colleagues and sponsors. Results The sponsors and line manages of participants report improved performance. From the first of these programs, which completed in mid-2007, 80% of participants have since been promoted. |
